What Reddit users report about Claude Code and Codex
A dated reading of user-reported workflows: cross-tool reviews, clear handoffs, frontend preferences, and the limits of repeated AI review.
01A qualitative reading, not a popularity ranking
Reviewed October 28, 2026. We read discussions in r/ClaudeCode, r/codex, and r/ClaudeAI, including older and recent posts. These are self-selected accounts, with different projects, model versions, prompts, and levels of experience. They cannot establish which tool is objectively best or how most developers work.
The observations below paraphrase the linked threads. They are useful ideas to test against your own codebase, not independently verified performance results.
02Some users like Claude implementation with Codex review
One discussion describes using Claude Code for planning and execution and Codex to look for edge cases. A separate setup discussion also describes that split, while its author notes the overhead of moving work between agents.
That resembles Nicholas’s preferred implementation and review roles. The practical lesson we take is to pass a compact written brief and a specific revision, rather than repeatedly copying a long conversation between tools.
03Others reverse the roles
Another thread describes Codex implementing and Claude Code actively reviewing and attempting to exercise the result. Its author reports finding a test that was not exercising the intended product behavior.
That supports trying a separate review role. It does not show that either vendor must always implement or review. Ask the reviewer to inspect the requirement and connected code, and verify the behavior yourself.
04Review loops and frontend preferences have caveats
A reviewer report includes both useful findings and repeated non-issues. Commenters discuss keeping accepted decisions and review rules available to both tools. In a frontend discussion, participants disagree about visual quality and distinguish interface design from the technical implementation.
Our takeaway is to keep a record of resolved findings, give the next tool the same design system, and stop rerunning reviews without a concrete question. Design quality, implementation correctness, and familiarity with a stack are different things to evaluate.
05How this changes the workflow
Use a defined task, observable acceptance criteria, and a written handoff. Try the alternate tool when a model repeats the same failure after receiving clear feedback. Keep humans responsible for design acceptance and engineering release decisions.
The linked posts mention older models and personal configurations. Use the current model guide for examples rather than copying the settings in an older comment.
